Program Description
» Create customized exercise and therapeutic plans to help athletes achieve superior performance and lifelong wellness while engaged in real-world field experiences.
» Work with medical professionals to diagnose, prevent, and rehabilitate injuries using advanced techniques and exercise equipment.
» Coach and motivate clients, athletes, and patients to assist with injury prevention and rehabilitation.
CAREER FOCUS: Prepared for state licensure, immediate employment, advanced certifications, and further education.

Program Instructor 
Instructor: Mrs. Alicia Hurps
Teaching since: 2020
Teaching at Mid-East since: 2021
Credentials: Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer in Ohio since 2008, Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training, Master's Degree in Adult Education, Teaching Certificate through Bowling Green State University
Field Experience: Athletic Trainer for 10 years, mostly at Muskingum University; taught in the CAATE accredited program; became a full-time teacher and clinical education coordinator in 2017, joined OhioHealth in 2020 as an outreach athletic trainer and still works in this role as her schedule allows.
Family: Alicia and her husband, Tony, have two daughters and a son.
