The Zanesville Campus Student Council sponsored an Adopt‑A‑Child Christmas Party at the Starlight School in Zanesville. The Student Council members acted as the hosts for the children, their guests and members of the student body.
Students adopted 29 children from Starlight School. The 29 children and numerous adults from Starlight School and the Career Center were treated to a holiday party with loads of presents. Approximately 120 children, students and adults attended the party. The students at the Zanesville Campus raised approximately $2500 for the project through donations and fund‑raising activities. Students participated in a visit to Starlight School on December 1 to meet the adoptees and a shopping spree to Wal-Mart on December 7.
This is the 29th year the students have adopted children from Starlight School; however, the students have supported the Adopt‑A‑Child program for many years. The program gives the Zanesville Campus students the opportunity to share the joy of the holiday season with the community. Students from the following programs made this event possible: Auto Collision; Building Maintenance, Business & Finance, Carpentry; Career Connections, CNET, Cosmetology; Criminal Justice; Custodial Services; Diesel Technology; Digital Media; Early Childhood Education; Electrical Trades, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning; Medical & Legal; Multi-Skilled Health Technician; Natural Resources Conservation; Power Line; Practical Nursing; Precision Machining; Robotics, Automation and Design; Restaurant Food Service Operations; Student Council; and Welding.
